They shall not grow old
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not wear them
nor the years condemn.
In the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them …
Lest We Forget
In memory of
Pilot Officer Clarence William Frauts
who died on January 27, 1944 in Walbich Tal near Urftalshere,
Germany
Uncle Clarence was 26 yrs old. Had done his Canadian service
and was to be shipped home. He was in England at that time.
One of the crews there called to go out was minus a tail gunner.
Uncle Clarence volunteered. The whole crew was lost.
We have the memories and the freedom guaranteed by these
youth and not so young, in some cases, willing to give their
all so that HOME stays protected.
The ceremonies were different today. Most of the WWI vets
have passed on. WWII veterans ranks are thinning. Today it
was WWII mentioned, Korean conflict and the Afghanistan
conflict that is taking so many of our soldiers, held center
stage.
Still mankind has not learned. War will continue to rage
somewhere. Why? If only there was a simple reason so that
all war would end forever.
Was it really the death of Archduke Ferdinand that started
these terrible conflicts or was it the oil to be had in
Afghanistan? And what about the middle east? Unanswered
questions with probable hidden answers demanding we ask,
how does one stop the greed before it is too late?
LEST WE FORGET!
